Highlights from 2024

Record-Breaking A Walk in Her Shoes Event

My Sister's Keeper-Cleveland hosted our largest-ever A Walk in Her Shoes event. Over 360 participants and 30 resource organizations joined us for this impactful day.

The talented Euclid Sonic Storm Marching Band led the way with energy and spirit. We were also honored to be escorted by two local police districts (4th and 5th Districts), ensuring a safe and seamless walk through the community.

This incredible turnout reflects the power of unity and shared purpose. It allowed us to raise awareness and provide resources for women impacted by cancer. It was truly a memorable day and a testament to the strength of our community.

Launch of Waiting Room Watchers

We proudly introduced Waiting Room Watchers. This unique service supports caregivers by providing compassionate childcare in hospital waiting rooms.

With trained caregivers offering a safe and nurturing environment, this program addresses critical needs for families navigating cancer treatment challenges. Waiting Room Watchers ensures caregivers can focus on their loved ones. They can rest assured that their children are in good hands.

This initiative embodies our mission to provide holistic, wraparound services to those impacted by cancer. We’re excited to see it grow and make a lasting impact!

The Pretty in Pink Warrior Coronation Gala

We hosted the unforgettable Pretty in Pink Warrior Coronation Gala. This elegant event celebrated strength, resilience, and transformation. It honored cancer survivors—our warriors—and their incredible journeys. They were crowned as the true queens they are.

Community Impact Awards were presented during the evening. These awards recognized individuals and organizations who exceeded expectations in supporting our mission.

The night was filled with joy, empowerment, and unity. It showcased the beauty of survival, sisterhood, and collective impact. The Warrior Coronation Gala was a powerful reminder of our community's strength. It highlighted the importance of standing together to support one another. It was truly a night to remember.

Recognized as Nonprofit of the Year

My Sister's Keeper-Cleveland was honored to be named Cleveland's Nonprofit of the Year at the prestigious Pink and Black Honors. This recognition celebrates our unwavering commitment to supporting women affected by cancer. It also highlights the impactful programs we’ve developed to uplift and empower our Sisters.

Launch of the Middle Sister Program

We proudly introduced the Middle Sister Program. It supports women transitioning from active cancer treatment to recovery. This program focuses on providing resources for physical and emotional healing. It includes ongoing mentorship from our Big Sisters.

The Middle Sister Program reflects our commitment to holistic care. It ensures that women are empowered during every phase of their journey. This program is a powerful addition to the wraparound services we offer. We’re excited to see its impact on the lives of our Sisters!

Future Goals for 2025

As we look ahead, we have set several ambitious goals for 2025:

1. Compassionate Care Training: We are excited to introduce transformative training programs in 2025. These programs will equip healthcare providers to deliver exceptional patient-centered care, fostering greater empathy in every interaction.

Upcoming Events in 2025

• A Walk in Her Shoes - Saturday, October 4, 2025: This powerful and uplifting event celebrates the resilience, strength, and courage of individuals affected by cancer. Originally focused on breast cancer, it now honors and supports those affected by all types of cancer.

  
  

Participants and supporters will walk side by side, symbolizing solidarity and hope. We aim to raise funds that provide essential resources for those navigating their cancer journeys. The event will also feature on-site cancer screenings and health information provided by local healthcare partners. More than just a walk, it is a movement of empowerment, awareness, and sisterhood, driving meaningful change and promoting wellness.

• Premiere Night: A Warrior’s Walk: Step into an evening of inspiration and transformation at the premiere of A Warrior’s Walk. This documentary takes you behind the scenes of the Pretty in Pink Warrior Coronation. Witness powerful stories of resilience and triumph as these remarkable individuals share their journeys of overcoming adversity.

  
  

• Sisters’ Soirees: Afternoon gatherings featuring art therapy, candle making, and other wellness activities. These gatherings foster connection and empowerment.

  
  

• Prayer Circles Revival: Weekly virtual sessions will provide spiritual support and a sense of community for all Sisters.

  
  

• Big Sister Training & Development: Virtual workshops designed to equip mentors with the skills needed to support Little Sisters effectively.
